Application Process and Selective Lottery

Thank you for your interest in Middle College High School (MCHS) in San Bernardino.

MCHS is a school that uses an application and selective lottery admission process, which means that admission is not guaranteed. We recommend considering MCHS as a backup option alongside your student's home high school and exploring the other excellent programs available within our District. For detailed information about the various programs and opportunities at each of our high schools, please visit the District's Linked Learning Academies/Pathways page.

MCHS is neither a charter, private, or credit recovery school, and students do not graduate early. Admission to MCHS is based on the individual merit of each applicant. We do not prioritize siblings, family, or District employees.

Application and Qualification Review:
  • Students must apply online and are screened based on eligibility criteria - see eligibility criteria under the MCHS Eligibility Tab below.
  • The application window is currently CLOSED, but the application will be found under the MCHS Application Tab below when the window opens in February 2025.
  • Eligibility criteria include factors like proof of address, grades, test scores, and attendance - see eligibility criteria under the MCHS Eligibility Tab below.
  • Qualified 10th and 11th-grade applicants are accepted based on availability - There is no lottery for these grade levels.
  • Qualified 9th-grade applicants are then entered into one of two selective lotteries based on GPA.
